Benefit Systems
Challenge
Our client was Benefit Systems, a leader in the employee benefits market for companies and institutions. It is a publicly traded company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange and a part of the mWIG40 index. The company operates internationally, including in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Croatia, and Turkey. With a broad portfolio of services, including programs such as MultiSport, MyBenefit, and MultiLife, Benefit Systems continues to strengthen its position as a key player in the non-wage benefits sector. The organization consistently seeks innovative solutions to expand its offering and reach new customer segments.
The goal of the project was to explore new, attractive business opportunities by identifying innovative products, services, and business models that align with current market trends. We focused on exploring new areas of employee benefits, including digitalization, personalization, and employee well-being. A key aspect was moving beyond traditional card-based benefits and identifying the “next big thing” in this sector.
Approach
Throughout the entire process, the priority was to develop concepts that directly address user needs while creating added value within the long-term strategy of Benefit Systems.
To foster an internal culture of entrepreneurship, we worked within an interdisciplinary team comprising 10 employees from various departments and expertise areas. This diversity of perspectives enabled the development of a broad spectrum of solutions and ensured a more effective innovation process.
The analysis of the market, users, and potential development directions included a comprehensive set of activities, such as:
- Analyzing market trends and future development directions,
- Investigating the needs of key stakeholders, including customers (business owners, managers, and HR departments) and end users (employees), with a strong focus on identifying core values,
- Conducting technology scouting to present the most promising and innovative solutions supporting the expansion of Benefit Systems’ offerings,
- Design Safari, aimed at reaching new customer segments and understanding the barriers preventing the adoption of existing solutions.
Results
The project resulted in strategic recommendations that define new development directions for Benefit Systems in the field of innovative employee benefits. Key outcomes include:
- Developing innovation proposals on multiple levels—from improvements to existing products and new sales channels to the creation of entirely new business models,
- Identifying new customer segments and their expectations regarding employee benefits,
- Discovering and analyzing nine key innovation areas where the company holds development potential,
- Generating over 400 ideas, of which 27 were developed into full concepts, and three refined into concrete solutions ready for further implementation,
- Training 10 innovation ambassadors in practical applications of Human-Centered Design, Lean Startup, and other methodologies, reinforcing the company’s innovation and intrapreneurship culture.
Through this strategic approach, the client received concrete tools and development directions that will enable them to effectively respond to evolving user needs and strengthen their position as a leader in innovative employee benefits.
